We live in a world where you would be hard pressed to find a material that has not been used to create part or all of a fountain pen and design is only limited by the imagination. And over forty years ago the imagination of Haruo Umeda (aka Mr Fountain Pen) created the Platinum 3776 Gathered and since its creation it has stood out as a truly unique fountain pen; if it wasn’t most of us would probably never have heard of it. Stationery by Anand Prakash
I first heard about Anand Prakash a few years ago when I read a footnote in a review of Indian fountain pens; the note was very complimentary and talked about how old blueprints had been saved and recycled into notebook covers and the like. I was intrigued by this and took a trip to the website and sure enough there were the blueprint notebooks and a whole host of other wonderful things. I purchased a few items as gifts and was very impressed and then this year I ordered quite a few things and decided to review them. Continue reading “Stationery by Anand Prakash”

Well over a year ago I read a review (UK Fountain Pens) of the Franklin Christoph Model 02 and I decided to order one. I chose the Smoke & Ice version with a standard Medium steel nib, placed my order and then addictively watched as it travelled round the world with FedEx, arriving at my door a few days later. Continue reading “My Accidental EDC Fountain Pen, The Franklin Christoph Model 02”

The Jinhao ‘Duofold Centennial’ Fountain Pen
I’ve wanted, for quite some time, to own a Parker Big Red Centennial, for me it is the epitome of the classic Parker Duofold and even though the price fluctuates wildly on Amazon it never goes wild enough for me to pull the trigger; so when I saw that Jinhao had produced a ‘homage’ to this great pen I placed my order and waited. Continue reading “The Jinhao ‘Duofold Centennial’ Fountain Pen”

What surprized me last year was a pen, the Platinum Carbon Desk Pen, and a year on from that and it’s time to write about what surprized me in 2019 and once again it was a pen, the Helix Oxford fountain pen. Continue reading “Surprize Of The Year 2019”
