As it’s nearly Christmas I decided that this month’s ink would be a fun and festive colour, so I have chosen Firefly from the Diamine Shimmer range. Continue reading “Ink Of The Month – December ’18”

The Midori A5 Notebook & Cover
Now I know I shouldn’t have been surprised that Midori make things other than their famous Traveler’s Notebook and accessories, but I was; I think it’s because the fame of their Traveler’s range tends to eclipse everything else they produce. If you run a Google search ‘Amazon Midori A5 notebook’ you’ll soon discover they make a much wider range they you may have anticipated. Continue reading “The Midori A5 Notebook & Cover”
The Elephant, The Tiger And The Kangaroo – A Dingbats Notebook Safari
I know this sounds like the beginning of one of those bad jokes where they all walked into a bar, but it isn’t, it is a review of the Dingbats notebook including a three-month independent destruction test. Continue reading “The Elephant, The Tiger And The Kangaroo – A Dingbats Notebook Safari”
Ink Of The Month – November ’18
This month I’ve chosen Graf Von Faber-Castell India Red, an ink I had been looking at for a while. Continue reading “Ink Of The Month – November ’18”
The Beena Retractable Nib Fountain Pen
Earlier this year I was browsing on the ASA website and came across the Beena fountain pens at the heady price of $12.00 USD for a pack of two. I was intrigued and went ahead and ordered a pack, they were labelled as new but also old stock from the 1980’s or thereabouts, this did not put me off if anything it was nice to have the chance to acquire a little piece of Indian fountain pen history. Continue reading “The Beena Retractable Nib Fountain Pen”
Fountain Pen Friendly From Muji
I was browsing in Muji a couple of weeks ago and came across this particular notebook that, as it turned out, was part of their four for the price of three offer; so naturally this was an offer I could not pass up and without owning up to how many I bought, let’s just say I left the store with a paper bag that was full to the brim. Continue reading “Fountain Pen Friendly From Muji”
Ink Of The Month – October ’18
As it’s Hallowe’en this month I wanted to do something a little different that was in keeping with the season of ghosties and ghoulies and things that go ‘BUMP’ in the night, so I chose Skulls & Roses. Continue reading “Ink Of The Month – October ’18”
Ensso Piuma – The Brass Feather
Piuma is Italian for feather and most of Ensso’s pens are beautifully machined from lightweight aluminium or titanium so naturally I opted for the heaviest version, the brass one. Continue reading “Ensso Piuma – The Brass Feather”
The Wing Sung 698 – A Chinese Pen With A Genuine Medium Nib
As anyone who has dipped into this site will have worked out that I am a fan of Chinese fountain pens; indeed, the very first pen I bought when I started collecting a few years ago was a Jinhao 159. Continue reading “The Wing Sung 698 – A Chinese Pen With A Genuine Medium Nib”
Inks Of The Month
Normally ‘Ink Of The Month’ is just that, a singular ink. This time however, I’ve decided, as a one off, to look at a range. The range in question, as you will have guessed from the title, is the Mabie Todd Blackbird Inks offering six different colours named after various wild birds; Mallard Green, Starling Purple, Sand Martin Brown, Robin Red, Kingfisher Blue and Blackbird Black.
