Ink Of The Month – December ’18

As it’s nearly Christmas I decided that this month’s ink would be a fun and festive colour, so I have chosen Firefly from the Diamine Shimmer range.

Firefly is a nice deep orange ink that is well saturated and is augmented with golden glitter which really lifts the ink. The shimmer effect isn’t always obvious, in fact after vigorously shaking the bottle to loosen the golden glitter (it tends to settle at the bottom of the bottle) I created the colour swatch. As you can see from the swatch with the text the result looked a little bland but when I moved the paper and the light caught it looked amazing the whole swatch was sparkling, I’ve tried to capture the effect in this image.

The only caveat with inks containing glitters is that you need to wash the pen out thoroughly after use as there is a risk that if it’s left long enough it could clog the pen; personally, I tend to use these inks with a dip pen.

If you want a festive ink then this might be one to add to your shopping list; it would also make a nice stocking filler.
