I own quit a few budget pens and I thought it was about time they came under scrutiny. Just to be clear when I say ‘budget pen’ I mean a pen that normally costs less than $, £, €15 and my only criteria is reliability; so if I forget where I have left the pen for a week I can then just pick it up and start writing. Creoly – Fortessa Notebook
I am an avid collector of notebooks, for me there’s no such thing as too many.
So, I was delighted when I was offered the opportunity to review this notebook as I don’t have any other leather bound notebooks in use, the other notebook in the picture is one I collected but it is, at best guess, somewhere around one hundred years old, so it’s retired. It’s in the picture because the Fortessa notebook reminded me of it. Continue reading “Creoly – Fortessa Notebook”
Lamy vs ‘Lamy’
This is more a mini review of the Lamy Vista and its $2.00 Chinese second cousin twice removed, the Jinhao 599. I have a bit of a love hate relationship with Lamy’s in so far as I know they are good pens and therefore feel obliged to have one amongst my collection of demonstrators but ultimately they just don’t inspire me. So whatever happened to customer service?
It seems these days that you have to go a long way to find good customer service so I thought I would share some recent experiences I’ve had. Continue reading “So whatever happened to customer service?”

For some time I have been looking for a small leather notebook cover for my Field Notes/Moleskine pocket notebooks and finding one a sensible price has been something of a quest, until a stumbled across the Creoly cover on Amazon. Continue reading “Creoly Pocket Notebook Cover”
And so, what next?
That’s a good question.
When I wrote my first post it was about getting started, taking the leap of faith and pressing the button.
The difficulty was, literally, what to do next. Ideas are easy, it’s the translation of an idea into reality that poses the problem; and the biggest part of this is choosing which idea first.
So, I’m going to take the easy option and write about the things that interest me; for me easy comes in the form of baking and stationery; I also dabble in short stories but that is another story.
Well that’s the plan, all I can say at this time is hang in there and we’ll see where it takes us.
Welcome to my world
It’s hard to say how long I’ve been thinking about this site but it’s been a long time and this year it was a case of either do it or give up the idea.
So the first thing I should probably own up to is that although we are The Indian Marmalade Company we don’t make marmalade, the name was a moment of inspiration that took hold and wouldn’t let go.
What I intend to so is fill this site with the things that interest me and I expect the site to change as I learn how to use WordPress, at the moment I am very much a novice, so bear with me when things that worked suddenly stop working it generally means I thought I had a good idea.
So thank you for coming to visit my world and I hope you enjoy your time here.
