Creoly Pocket Notebook Cover

For some time I have been looking for a small leather notebook cover for my Field Notes/Moleskine pocket notebooks and finding one a sensible price has been something of a quest, until a stumbled across the Creoly cover on Amazon.

It’s always difficult to determine from photographs if the product is going to be as good as it appears and never having heard of Creoly I was a little sceptical. So after a little back and forth I decided the price was very reasonable and placed my order.

It was despatched within one working day and I had it in two; it arrived very well packaged in a cardboard book wrapper and the cover inside was in perfect condition in a clear plastic envelope.

The first thing that struck me was how well finished the cover is; it is neatly stitched and all the edges have been properly finished, the leather is soft and flexible (approximately 1mm thick) and very nicely dyed that provides an even colour.

Externally it is plain other than the company name/logo which is embossed at the bottom of the rear of the cover, similar to the location on a Moleskine notebook.Creoly Logo 350px Web.jpeg

Internally, as you open it, it has on the left two pockets. A full width pocket for stowing notes and on top of this two smaller pockets that are designed for business/credit cards. On the right is a half width flap into which the notebook is intended to fit.

I have tCreoly Internal 350px Web.jpegried it with both Moleskine and Field Notes and a generic equivalent and they all fit; I also tried a notebook on the left and the right and the fit was fine. It is true that the cover is about 10mm taller than either the Moleskine or the Field Notes but as this cover is designed for a range of notebooks this is an understandable precaution.

As part of my everyday clutter that I carry with me this helps me to hang onto my notebook and all the Post-it notes and scraps of paper I accumulate and I look forward to seeing how it ages over the years.

Would I change anything? No, but if I was asked what I would like to see in the next iteration I would like to see an elastic closure (separate or attached) and a pen loop or maybe an opening that would allow the optional installation of a loop like the Leuchtturm pen loop.

In conclusion. Would I buy this cover again or be happy to recommend it; the simple answer is yes. In a market place where any genuine leather product tends to be very optimistically priced it is nice to see a good quality product at a reasonable price.
