A Red Ink For Dracula, Private Reserve’s Vampire Red

As October is the month when we celebrate Hallowe’en I thought I would review an ink appropriate to the season; Private Reserve’s Vampire Red.

What better ink could there be for Hallowe’en especially if you are having a party and want to make your invitations just that little bit different.

When I did the brush test I was a little concerned as the ink started to appear a little brown rather than the expected deep red but then as the ink dried I could see it was turning a nice vampire friendly blood red.

Interestingly when doing the writing test, using a fine nib dip pen, the ink was immediately redder and as with the other Private Reserve inks I have tried this one is a pleasure to write with.

It flows well with no skipping or hard starts no matter how hard I tried it just carried on. Drying time in a warm room was around eighteen seconds which is good given how liberal I was being with the ink just prior to testing the drying time.

This is one of those colours you could be very creative with around Hallowe’en for instance dripping ‘blood’ on invitations or use it to create bloody finger/handprints and the list could go on.

Finally, would I recommend this ink?

Yes, because no matter what you choose to do with this ink, it’s a great ink and a nice red.
