Pen Show Haul

Well, it’s been a few years since I went to a pen show and because of this I expected it to be a similarly low key event as the last one; well it wasn’t. I arrived around 11.00am and it was brimming over with people and every vendor was busy; indeed quite a few had a queue. So what follows, in no particular order are pictures and details of the items in the ‘Haul’.Ink Stamps

I like ink stamps; there’s something reassuring and old fashioned about them; a sense of permanence if you will. So, what started as one cute black stamp rapidly turned into four assorted stamps and an ink pad.

Stickers

Pen shows are a great source of stickers and I find you pick up the more unusual stickers at shows and I have had a few one off’s where the vendor has been trying out some new designs; this year it was cates, coffee and cakes et cetera.

Clips & Ruler & Post-it Notes

I ended up buying two different types of clip and a small solid brass rule the latter being suitable for a ‘Traveler’ type of notebook. The clips were a little more universal in application; the first I bought was brass strip with a leather pen loop and the other was a paw design of the clamp type. Both are very useful but I’m leaning towards the clamp as being most useful of the two.

These Post-it notes are novelty notes for the fountain pen user sporting a bottle of ink design on them, in this case blue/black.

Scribo Ink & Tinkerbell Ink

Tinkerbell is an unusual ink being made in Hungary and the packaging is made in Hong Kong. The ink itself is a green with a sparkle element that mimics Tinker bell’s dress in the films.

The Scribo Rossso Melograno is a deep pink reminiscent of Fuchsia plants; it is a moderately wet ink with a drying time around fifteen seconds with no sheen, if you are looking for a pink ink this is definitely one to consider.

Notebooks

Both of the notebooks are made in Japan and are approximately A5 with cat logo and a frame design; one has a ruled line with dots and the other one is graph paper. They are folded and stapled with card covers and cat designs on the inner pages.

In summary pen shows are great places to find the unusual for either yourself or as gifts for someone else and present a wonderful opportunity for shopping and seeing things for real as well as catching up with friends. So, if there is a show you can get to I recommend you go.
