Cat 22 By Colorverse

For a long time I’ve wanted to try a Colorverse ink.

Then one day I was shoppping for some review samples and I took a diversion to the Colorverse page on Cult Pens and before you know it a bottle of No. 22 Cat was in my basket and the rest as they say is history.

For anyone not familiar with Colorverse inks; they are made in Korea using plant based pigments and some colours are sold as individual bottles whilst others are sold in sets of two and three. The packaging is quite something; not only is the out side of the box delightfully illustrated but when you open the box the inside is also wonderfully illustrated.

The bottles are uniquely shaped and different dependent upon which bottle/pack you buy; Cat is an egg shaped bottle, flat at the bottom witha recess in the one side where your thumb rests comfortably when you pick up the bottle and topped off with a black plastic cap.

On to the ink itself. The ink is what Colorverse describes as ‘Glistening’, in other words it contains very fine reflective particles which really do glisten when the light catches them.

Cat is a nicely saturated medium blue, that reminds me of Private Reserve American Blue, that flows evenly and when using a Fine/Very Fine nib I wasn’t able to make it skip and nor could I make it hard start. It dried quickly at around seven seconds, but I would expect it to take a little longer with a Medium or Broad nib.

With regard to text; that didn’t really glisten but it did come out as a nice medium blue; the type of blue you could use anywhere.

And so to the final question of any review, “Is it worth your pennies?”

Yes. Not only are Colorverse wonderful inks they also make great gifts; so, whether you are buying for yourself or as a gift for a stationery addict you know I don’t think you can go wrong with a bottle of Colorverse ink.
