Hints & Tips No.5 – Flying Tiger Pen Tray

Wooden pen trays or pen rests are not exactly ten a penny but if you shop around places like Etsy and eBay you will find a reasonable selection to choose from.

They come in many different woods and finishes, and prices vary quite considerably; I’ve seen some as high as £60.00GBP with the average price being in the vicinity of £25.00GBP.

So, as much as I wanted one, I couldn’t justify spending that many pennies on a ridged piece of wood.

But happily, there is an alternative.

A quick trip to your nearest Flying Tiger store and you can pick up a bamboo wood pen tray for £2.00GBP or the equivalent in your local currency, now that’s a bargain.

They are well made and finished and designed for average sized pens but as the picture shows they will comfortably take larger pens in my case the Narwhal Original Demonstrator and a Ranga 8B.

I liked them that much I bought two, and they are taking up permanent residence on my desk.

So, I’m happy to recommend them; just go soon because stock levels were low when I bought mine.

Disclaimer: Then pen tray was purchased with my own funds at retail price. The opinions expressed in this review are my own; and I am not connected with either the retailers or manufacturers in any way.

  1. Great – thanks for the tip! A decided upgrade from my IKEA silicone ice trays…
Now if only they’d hurry up and open stores in Canada! Luckily my daughter lives in Vienna where it’s just called “Tiger”. I predict bulky luggage for her next home visit.

    1. Hi
No problem, I was really surprised they were such a good price. I have a small pile of Tiger things to review as soon as I can so I might be encouraging you to add to the excess baggage charges 🙂
